Car Detailing and Interior Cleaning Price in India (2026): Dry, Steam and Deep Clean Compared

By Royal Royce Team

Quick answer: In 2026, car interior cleaning price in India runs about ₹1,500 to ₹2,500 for a hatchback, ₹2,500 to ₹4,000 for a sedan and ₹4,000 to ₹8,000 for a large SUV. Full detailing, inside and out, costs ₹3,500 to ₹15,000 depending on size. Steam cleaning and stain treatment push you to the top of each range.

Price lists for interior cleaning in India are confusing because the same words mean different things. One studio’s “dry cleaning” is another’s “interior spa”. One quote includes the roof liner and AC vents; another quietly doesn’t.

So this guide does two things. It gives you 2026 market prices by car size, including the rates we publish ourselves. And it tells you what each service should actually include, so you can compare quotes line by line.

Dry cleaning vs steam cleaning vs deep cleaning: what you’re paying for

Here’s where most confusion starts. These are the three names you’ll see, and what each should mean.

Car interior dry cleaning

Despite the name, it isn’t dry. It’s low-moisture cleaning: vacuuming, then foam shampoo worked into seats, carpets and mats, wiped and extracted so little water stays in the foam. Dashboard, door trims and glass are cleaned too. It’s the right choice for a car that’s dusty and lightly stained but doesn’t smell.

We’ve written city versions for Delhi and Mumbai if you want the step-by-step.

Car steam cleaning

Steam at high temperature loosens grime from vents, seat stitching, cup holders and seat rails, and it kills most bacteria and mould spores on contact. It uses very little water, so seats dry fast. Steam is what you want after a Mumbai monsoon, when a car has been closed and damp for weeks, or when there’s a baby seat in daily use. See how it works in our car steam cleaning guide.

Deep interior cleaning

This is the full job: hot water extraction on fabric, stain pre-treatment, roof liner, AC vent dusting, carpets lifted where possible, and leather conditioned. It costs the most and takes longest, three to four hours for a deep clean with stain treatment. Our interior deep cleaning service includes vacuuming, seat shampoo, carpet and mat deep cleaning, dashboard and door trims, roof cleaning, AC vent dusting, stain treatment, glass and a final inspection. For heavy odour or hygiene problems, the steam sanitisation package adds steam throughout.

What no honest detailer includes in an interior price: AC internal servicing (that’s a mechanic’s job) and a guarantee that every old stain disappears. Stains that have set for months often lighten rather than vanish.

What pushes your car to the top of the price range

Two hatchbacks can get quotes ₹2,000 apart. The reasons are usually these:

  • Pet hair and sand. Hair weaves into carpet fibres and needs rubber tools and time. Beach sand in Mumbai cars is similar.

  • Set stains and spills. Milk and coffee in the carpet, ink on the seat, or chai on the roof liner each need their own pre-treatment.

  • Odour. Smoke, damp and spilled milk need source removal plus treatment, which adds an hour or more.

  • Leather. Cleaning and conditioning leather properly is slower than shampooing fabric.

  • Seven seats. A third row and its floor area add 25% to 35%.

  • Neglect. A car that hasn’t had an interior clean in two years takes twice as long as one done every six months.

And one that lowers the price: booking at the right time. A car cleaned every four to six months never builds up the grime that makes deep cleans expensive.

Does car interior cleaning cost more in Mumbai or Delhi?

Product costs are the same everywhere. Labour, travel and parking access make the difference, which is why we show prices per branch after you pick your car type. What changes more by city is which service you need.

  • Delhi NCR: fine dust gets into fabric and vents all winter, and summer cabins bake food and sweat stains into seats. A dry clean every four to six months, with a steam clean before summer, works for most Delhi cars. See our Delhi NCR branch.

  • Mumbai: humidity is the enemy. Damp carpets grow mould and musty smells, so steam matters more than shampoo here. Our Mumbai interior cleaning guide covers the monsoon routine; our Mumbai branch handles bookings.

  • Bangalore: frequent rain means wet shoes and damp mats, and many families carry kids’ seats. Low-moisture cleaning that dries quickly suits it best. Book through car cleaning in Bangalore.

  • Hyderabad: cabins parked in the sun reach 65°C to 75°C within an hour in May, according to VahanBazaar’s 2026 measurements. That bakes stains in and dries out leather. Leather conditioning earns its price here. Book through car cleaning in Hyderabad.

How to compare two interior cleaning quotes

Ask each provider the same five questions:

  1. Is the roof liner included, and how is it cleaned? (Over-wetting a liner can make it sag.)

  2. Are seats shampooed and extracted, or just wiped?

  3. Are mats and carpets cleaned separately, and is the boot included?

  4. How long will seats take to dry, and do you use air movers?

  5. Is odour removed at the source or covered with fragrance?

If the answer to the last one is a perfume spray, the smell will be back in a fortnight.

Ask for the inclusions in writing, on WhatsApp or email, before the technician starts. A written list protects both sides: you know exactly what you’re paying for, and the detailer knows what you expect to see at the end. If something on the list isn’t done, raise it during the final walk-round, while the technician is still there and can fix it in minutes. Also confirm the price for your exact car, not a category. A Creta and a Hector are both “SUVs” on some price lists, but one has three rows of seats to clean and the other doesn’t, and that difference should be on the quote rather than a surprise on the bill.

What happens during a doorstep interior clean

It helps to know the sequence, because it tells you whether you’re getting the full job. Here’s how a deep interior clean at your doorstep normally runs, with rough timings for a sedan.

  1. Inspection (10 minutes). The technician checks seat material (fabric, leather, leatherette), notes stains and smells, and agrees with you what’s included. Personal belongings come out of the car.

  2. Dry extraction (20 to 30 minutes). Vacuuming of seats, seat rails, carpets, boot and every crevice. Mats come out and are cleaned separately.

  3. Pre-treatment (15 minutes). Stains get a product matched to them: enzyme cleaners for food, milk and sweat; solvent-based treatment for ink and grease.

  4. Shampoo and extraction or steam (60 to 90 minutes). Fabric seats and carpets are shampooed and the dirty water extracted. Steam goes into vents, cup holders, seat stitching and door pockets.

  5. Hard surfaces (20 to 30 minutes). Dashboard, console, door trims and steering wheel are cleaned and, if you want, given a non-greasy protectant.

  6. Roof liner (15 minutes). Cleaned gently with minimal moisture, because over-wetting loosens the adhesive and makes it sag.

  7. Glass and finishing (15 minutes). Inside glass, mirrors and screens, then leather conditioning if needed.

  8. Drying and walk-round (30 to 60 minutes). Air movers speed up drying; the technician walks you through the result before payment.

That adds up to three to four hours for a deep clean, which matches the timings in our Delhi seat cleaning guide. If a “deep clean” is promised in 45 minutes, steps 3, 4 and 6 are being skipped.

Legitimate extras vs upsells

Some additions are fair charges for real extra work. Others are mostly marketing.

  • Fair extras: heavy pet hair removal, a third row of seats, leather conditioning, odour removal at the source, cleaning after a flood or rat infestation.

  • Often upsells: “nano sanitisation” sprays charged separately when steam already sanitises, fragrance packages, and “AC disinfection” that only means spraying the vents. Ask what’s physically done before agreeing.

How to keep the interior clean between visits

A professional clean lasts much longer with ten minutes of upkeep a week:

  • Shake out the mats weekly. Grit trapped in mats grinds into the carpet beneath.

  • Keep a small trash bag in the door pocket, and empty it whenever you fill fuel.

  • Wipe spills the same day with a damp microfibre. Fresh stains lift easily; week-old ones need a professional.

  • Use seat-back organisers for kids’ things so snacks don’t end up in the seat rails.

  • Use a sunshade. It keeps the dashboard from cracking and slows the oily film that builds on the inside of the windscreen in summer.

  • Air the car with the doors open for ten minutes after the rains or a long family trip.

With that routine, most city cars need a professional interior clean every four to six months, rather than every two or three.

Is full car detailing worth it over interior cleaning alone?

If the outside of your car looks fine, no. Pay for the interior and save the polish for later.

But if the paint is dull, swirled or spotted, full detailing usually costs less than booking interior cleaning and polishing separately, because prep is shared. Our 360° complete car detailing bundles both. For how often a car really needs it, see how often you should get your car detailed.

How Royal Royce prices interior cleaning

You pick the service, your car category (hatchback, sedan, sub-compact, SUV, luxury) and your branch city on our site, and the price shows before you book. The work happens at your doorstep; we need a bucket of water and a power point, and that’s it. Studio jobs, such as ceramic coating and paint correction, come with pick-and-drop instead.

A practical note for doorstep jobs: clear out child seats, gym bags and valuables before the technician arrives, and point out the stain you care most about. Shampooed seats need a few hours with the windows open to dry properly, so book a morning slot if you need the car that evening.

Frequently asked questions

What is the car interior cleaning price in India in 2026?

About ₹1,500 to ₹2,500 for a hatchback, ₹2,500 to ₹4,000 for a sedan and ₹4,000 to ₹8,000 for a large SUV, based on 2026 market surveys. Stain treatment and leather care add to that.

How much does car dry cleaning cost?

Most providers charge in the same range as interior detailing, roughly ₹1,500 to ₹4,000 for hatchbacks and sedans. Royal Royce’s Delhi seat shampoo and extraction runs ₹1,500 to ₹3,000.

What is the full car detailing price in India?

₹3,500 to ₹6,000 for a hatchback, ₹5,000 to ₹8,000 for a sedan and ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 or more for a large SUV or luxury car, covering a deep interior clean and a single-stage polish.

Is steam cleaning better than dry cleaning?

For smells, mould and hygiene, yes. For dusty, lightly stained fabric, dry cleaning is enough. Many jobs combine both.

How long does car interior cleaning take?

A standard clean takes 1 to 1.5 hours; a deep clean with stain treatment 3 to 4 hours. Fabric seats dry in 1 to 2 hours with air movers.

How often should I get my car interior cleaned?

Every four to six months for most city cars. Families with kids or pets, and Mumbai cars after the monsoon, benefit from more frequent cleans.

Can old stains be removed completely?

Not always. Fresh stains usually come out; stains that have set for months often lighten instead. A good detailer tells you this before starting.

Does interior cleaning include the AC?

Vents are dusted and wiped, but the AC system itself, the evaporator and cabin filter, is a mechanic’s job and isn’t part of interior detailing.

Why do SUVs cost more to clean?

More seats, more carpet and a third-row floor area mean more time. Expect 25% to 35% more than a sedan.

Can interior cleaning be done at home?

Yes. Royal Royce does interior cleaning at your doorstep in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, needing only water and a power point.
